Charity funded providers can purchase particular products with zero VAT. The categories of product are medical equipment, lab equipment, scientific equipment, computer equipment, video equipment, sterilising equipment or refrigeration equipment.
Having previously investigated this in great deal with several health providers and HMRC, it has been determined that beacons don't fit any of these categories so we can't zero rate the goods.
We must charge VAT by law, even to universities and hospitals. Most organisations are VAT registered so can claim the VAT back.
